EP4: Top 6 Reader Pet Peeves

Nom de Plume Podcast
Nom de Plume

Some of you call me NDP, others call me India Caedmon. I live a wonderful, quiet hermit life in the Idaho mountains which is ideal for yoga (and reading, of course). During the day, I am a structural engineer. When I’m not geeking out, I fly planes in the backcountry and paddle board with my dog. I am so grateful to share this journey with you! NAMASTE ∞

Omg this is so true! I have the exact same pet peeves! And you’re right, insta-love does annoy a lot of people. I want to feel the romance build.

I don’t mind instant love as long as it’s done well. But sometimes there’s just nothing lols

Right. I don’t mind insta-love when it’s done well. It’s not always done well haha, but sometimes when you know, you know 😉

My biggest pet peeve is when authors ask for reviews. There’s a better chance I’ll write one if they are gracious and appreciative instead of like LEAVE A REVIEW BECAUSE IT’LL HELP ME! Grr

I have issues with authors more than I do books. I’d love to hear you talk about the differences between being a blogger and an author and how the two careers compare and contrast!

I understand where you’re coming from!! It’s bad, but if an author is crass (especially on social media) I won’t give their work a try.

Another pet peeve. As an author myself, I’m getting a little tired of the turning sex trafficking into romance.
Example: ‘I have to sell my virginity to pay for my twin sister’s heart transplant.’

Sex trafficking is a serious and sick issue and in no matter will it ever become romantic. Just ask the girls who have been sold into this diseased business.

Another great episode, India. Can’t wait for the next.

Ugg. Exactly. I just don’t pick up these books. Writing unique plots is one thing, but shedding the wrong light on these serious (and disturbing) issues happening in real life…not cool. Thank you for sharing, Gina!!
