Will the mistakes of the past ruin their future?
As public relations coordinator for the Manhattan Marauders pro football team, Victoria “V” Price has the wealth, prestige, and glamour she only dreamed of growing up. All she’s missing is a man to share it with. V thought she gave up her shot at love when she left her childhood sweetheart in the dust of her rural Texas town, along with the painful secrets of her family life. But the past comes roaring back when Sam Fitzpatrick, the only man she ever loved, is hired as the Marauders’ new offensive coordinator.
Despite Sam’s reluctance to work alongside V, his distrust of the woman who broke his young heart is no match for their swiftly rekindling passion. Yet even as V’s tough PR persona gives way to her softer side, Sam wonders if their chemistry is enough to overcome the wounds left unhealed between them. But when the devastating truth of V’s past is exposed, threatening both her career and their second chance, Sam finds himself asking a different question: does he have what it takes to win back her love?
First Line: “All right. Last item. I want Samuel Fitzpatrick, people, and I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.”
Sam Fitzpatrick is some mighty fine eye candy, my friends. Climb into my Cadillac of love and let me show you the goodies I’ve got for YOU! #StrangerDanger
We are first introduced to Sam right out of high school. He is happy, he is successful, and he has an amazing girlfriend, Victoria Price. Well, let’s reevaluate how “amazing” Victoria is in a bit…
Victoria (our sweet innocent flower) follows Sam to Florida State where he is trying to pursue his dream of playing pro football. This, of course, delays her own plans for higher education, but Sam and Victoria are insistent on making it work. He soon proposes to his red-headed princess… but he gets injured and his dreams of playing football are shattered… and Victoria walks out on him without a word.
Staaahp. What was it?… Doubt, his injuries?! A note would have been nice, you TROLL!
15 years later we meet Victoria again. She is different from the abused girl she once was. Then, she hid her secrets and matured at a rate no teenager should. Now, well… now she just buries her past under a blanket of false security and pretends her past never existed; including Sam. In her mind, she is a stronger woman, and a successful woman.
(Enter, stage right) Our first major conflict.
The troll Victoria works for the Marauders football team… and the Marauders want Sam Fitzpatrick as their new offensive coordinator. (Well doesn’t Karma come and bite you in the butt, my pretties?) Victoria being the link between the Marauders and Sam must return to the place she once ran away from and ask the man she abandoned to come work with her.
His mouth twisted in a derisive smirk, and his eyes traveled over her body in an insulting survey before he lifted his gaze to hers once more. “I’ve sampled what you have to offer, Red. No thanks.”
Sam comes swinging like a bat outa hell! He’s doing a decent job for a man holding a 15-year-old grudge… “A” for effort, handsome.
Anticipating to decline, Sam surprises himself and accepts the offer. Now it is time for him and his teenage daughter, Lucy, to relocate to Manhattan. (Hmmm… I wonder when Lucy was born…) AND what is he going to do about his current fling… whatshername… Patricia?
What kind of gentleman wakes a woman at the crack of dawn to dump her over the phone?
I never claimed to be a gentleman, Patricia.
Sam is no gentleman, indeed. Not anymore, at least! Let’s not even get into Patricia and her bitchfacery. If we think Victoria’s betrayal makes her the enemy, Patricia is a lawn gnome up to no good! Let’s just pray that Patricia doesn’t come lurking around causing trouble…
Slowly, Sam pursues this woman who ran away from him so long ago. Slowly, his daughter transforms from the brat who wants a paternity test, to praying that she shares Sam’s blood. Instantaneously, Victoria’s desire for Sam is ignited once again. Two hungry hearts are finally reunited, but in all things: timing is everything. 15 years is a long time for a heart to be septic.
Is Sam’s pursuit of Victoria foolish? Yes. Is Victoria still going to hide her fears from him even after 15 years? Yes. How can they work together with so much unfinished business polluting the air around them? Every day is a test, and at some point Sam and Victoria will have to make a choice.
Her greedy heart screamed at her to take the chance. He stood before her, offering everything she’d ever wanted… how could she go on with her life, standing in the shadows and dreading the day she’d be forced to watch him give his love to another?
Get in the Cadillac, girl! Take that sweet (loyal, honest, muscly…) candy!
My friends, my friends… To Win Her Back is addictive and viscous with passion. Mack the Knife ain’t got nothin’ on Mac Crowne! Mackenzie Crowne kidnapped me, assaulted my heart, and sent me to a sexy world of grudges and sweet conflict. These conflicts festered to the point I didn’t think they’d ever be resolved! Surely enough, I was left with complete satisfaction as I watched each insatiable character grow, compromise, and learn to love again. To Win Her Back is the definition of irrepressible love.
It is down right irresistible!
