“Sometimes big secrets come in even bigger packages…”
Stressed-out trauma nurse Louise Becker gets a gigantic surprise when a locker room mix-up results in an up close and very personal encounter with MMA heavyweight fighter “Madman” Markovski. Finding herself helplessly drawn to his warrior body and quiet strength, Louise buries her feelings until she suddenly needs a place to crash and Madman comes to her rescue. Confined to close quarters, their urgent needs can no longer be denied, despite Louise knowing that Madman is hiding something from her…
Usalv “Madman” Markovski has lived a lifetime of rejection and loss. While part of him craves love and stability, he knows it doesn’t last. In the end, everyone leaves. His longing for Louise is all-consuming, but that complicates things even more. Can she handle all he has to offer, or will the depths of his need scare her away? When his continued denial puts Louise in a dangerous situation, Usalv must make a choice—to trust in their love or to fight against his own heart’s desire.
First Line: “‘Goddamn it, what the hell was that?’ Coach Rodgers rants from ringside.”
Louise is a young trauma nurse who is looking for alternate ways to deal with the stresses of her job. Aren’t we all?
She doesn’t expect said outlet to be in the form of Usalv “Madman” Markovski, a heavy MMA fighter.
Aye aye aye, ladies. Warning! This man is 100% half-naked trouble.
Louise obviously can’t see this man is heartbreak plastered on a billboard, and she is completely drawn to the powerful stranger…especially when he comes to Louise’s aid when she’s in need of a place to stay. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Tensions rise and attraction sparks as neither Louise nor her wounded warrior can stop the growing feelings happening between them.
When a locker room mix up leads Usalv to Louise, he feels an attraction greater than any punch during his MMA matches. However, Usalv is used to things ending as quickly as they start. I mean, no one ever really stays in the end. Right? RIGHT.
These two are a messed-up match from the hot and heavy ring! While Usalv’s past clouds his judgment, he can’t help the all-consuming longing he has for Louise. As the two get closer, he soon realizes that love may be something he has wanted all along…if only he can open up to her about his true desires.
An image of a nearly naked Usalv flashes through my mind, but I force it away. After all, it’s just a primal thing. It must be, because I’ve never seen a guy that looked so good without clothes on.
Uh huh. 😉
Will Louise and Usalv be able to open their hearts up to one another and truly accept what the other has to give, or will demons from the past come back and forever tear the two apart?
A serendipitous meeting brings together two people whose connection is just as powerful as the battles they fight. Umm. SWOON! Annabeth Saryu has illustrated a love story so raw and filthy, it was hard to take my eyes off the page. I don’t think the characters are sculpted very well, but the backdrop our two leads meander around in front of is EN POINTE! The vivid language makes this book a keeper. And Usalv?…Drool.
